Tiffen 58mm 8 Filter (Yellow)
Filters for black and white photography perform a variety of filtration effects including contrast control, enhanced skin tones, tonal corrections and more dramatic landscapes. Although originally intended for use with black and white film, these filters can also be used as a creative tool in color imaging. Yellow 8 This medium yellow filter offers the most correct tonal range contrast to produce natural clouds against blue skies. Yellow 12 "Minus blue" cuts haze in aerial work; reduces excess blue of full moon in astrophotography. Recommended as a basic filter for use with Kodak Aero Ektachrome Infrared film. Yellow 15 Enhances landscapes, marine scenes and aerial photography with more dramatic effects than Yellow 8.

User Reviews about Tiffen 58mm 8 Filter (Yellow)
My partner asked for a Tiffen graduated neutral density filter for his birthday, then waited with much excitement. When I gave it to him he rushed out to try it and said it was as good as advertised. -- Lives up to its advertising
Although I'm just beginning to use filters for my digital images, I think that the Photo Essential Filter Kit is going to help me a lot and am pleased with them. -- Tiffen fllters
I recently bought the Tiffen 58mm 4-Point Star filter...
To be honest, I was wary. I'd never owned any Tiffen filters and from the other reviews on this page, they didn't seem to be of great quality. Well, you know what? My filter arrived in perfect condition and works GREAT, I'm in love with it. Granted, I bought it on Ebay instead of Amazon, but the filter itself seems to be of sound quality.
No Star Filter reviews existed on this page when I bought mine, so hopefully this'll help some people out and alleviate any fears! The filter works great and produces a really nice effect, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you're basing your expectations off the original Tiffen images. -- Bad Quality? Really?!
I read the reviews about the Tiffen Photo Essentials Filter Kit. I was hesitant to buy it, but thought let me try my luck. I bought for $38 with regular free super saver shipping and I received it just in 4 days. When I opened the outer box, the inside box looked already opened and does not have any seal to it. I carefully opened the box and it has a marketing booklet and the pouch with the filters. I could clearly see dust on all 3 filters. They do not have finger prints though. So this can be a bad manufacturing/QA or stored in a dusty place (doubt that though as it was in a box and a pouch - box seems clean) or someone used for sometime and returned it. In either case it remains with the manufacturer and the seller to correct the process of how they sell the product. Eventually it is the manufacturer's brand image that is going to be impacted. As someone already pointed out, the filters are highly glossy(even with dirt) and highly reflective.
At this point, it is only day 2 since I received the kit and did not get a chance to use them, but I am sure in a couple of weeks, I will have the review with its picture quality, usability and output related review. -- Is it the Manufacturer or Seller?
Tiffen came highly recommended, and I can see why. Less expensive than some filters, I like these because their optics don't seem to affect my pictures, they feel sturdy, and they protect the lens. Exactly what they're supposed to do, for what I believe is a bargain price.
-- What a deal! They protect my $1000 lens for what I paid in taxes on the lens.
