Tiffen 52mm 16 Filter (Orange)

Black and white imaging records only tonal differences between colored objects, which appear as black, white, or different shades of gray. Proper rendition depends on your own desires, and, for film, the differences between film sensitivity to colors and that of the eye. The latter is due to the fact that most panchromatic emulsions used are more sensitive to blue, violet and ultraviolet than to other colors. Therefore, blue appears as lighter on film than it does to the eye. This can make a blue-sky light enough to appear a similar shade of light gray as the clouds that are in it, making the clouds "disappear."Deeper colors, further to the red end of the spectrum, such as Orange 16 filter will produce progressively deeper and artificially more dramatic renditions of blue sky.

User Reviews about Tiffen 52mm 16 Filter (Orange)

The filter came in a sturdy case and threads easily onto my lenses. It works as I anticipated and I am happy with the filter to use in my landscape photography. -- Graduated ND Filter
I am an amateur photographer. I just take pictures because I enjoy it. I have not formal training or extended experience.

That said, I find these to be very useful and have had no problems what so ever with them. Screw on, screw off. The polarizing filter is my favorite.

-- Work well for me.
My failure analysis lab does alot of work looking for cracks in failed products. With the dark red filter, digital camera set to b&w, macro lens, and some stain you can find defects in material quickly then print large sized blowups on a digital printer (e.g. HP designjet). On 11x17 paper or 13x19 they are clear as can be and the new vivera inks from HP customized for b&w printing make photo output top notch on the right paper. Be sure to have various water based stains on hand to bring out the defect as some work better than others. If one does not work, wash it with DI water and apply another color stain and you will get the message with one color combination.

This 52mm filter fits the prime lens from olympus Olympus 50mm f/2.0 Telephoto Macro ED Lens for E1, E300 & E500 Digital SLR Cameras which has incredible detail when combined with the tube extender for zooming. It can also show that there is no defect present and direct your work elsewhere. -- wonderful for failure analysis work
Tiffen 52mm Deluxe 3 Filter Kit
I ordered this based on a friend's recommendation. Amazon did a great job in shipping the product in a timely fashion. When I received the product I opened the box to find the filter pack contained in the carrying pouch inside another box. So, the wrapping was sufficient to protect all the contents. Some of the problems I experienced was some dust and residue on the lenses. This was easily removed with a lense cloth. I had no problems installing the filters on the camera lense. The real shocker was the kit as displayed on Amazon shows three filters. One is a UV filter, one a Neutralizer .6, and one (depending on which picture is viewed) a Circular Polarizer or and FL-D filter. I fully expected the Polarizer to be in the kit. So, if you are looking for UV and Polarizer filters in this kit be careful. What you see is not what you get. The pictures provided on Amazon clearly show the Polarizer filter with the kit in the last two photo shots of the product. I am rating a 3 star based on that issue. Other than that surprise, I am satisfied with my purchase, the price, and free shipping. -- Tiffen 52mm filter pack
